Greetings:
Welcome to the ETL Education Foundation website. Whether a first time
visitor or someone presently involved with our programs, it is my pleasure
to welcome you!
Since 1985, the Foundation has been working at the forefront of helping to
educate tomorrow's leaders. We do this through a series of programs that
promote academic achievement, cultural awareness, youth mentoring, and
community partnerships Our goal is to address the academic achievement
gap by creating viable strategies that assist in narrowing the divide that
limits the educational potential of our youth. As a volunteer organization of
primarily African American and Latino concerned citizens, we embrace the
opportunity to be innovators of change.
In 2018, the Foundation celebrated the 37th annual HBCU College Tour. The
College Tour is clearly an example of the organization's contribution to the
community. Over 3,000 student participants, from over 15 states, Africa, and
the Caribbean have and continue to benefit from the College Tour and other
Foundation programing. Our track record of success is motivating young
men and women to seek higher education.
Our communities continue to struggle with academic achievement when
compared with other ethnic groups. Our students need support as they
grow from precocious youth to productive adults. Visualization is a critical
element in nurturing the success of a young man or woman. Foundation
programs allow students to see their potential and provide proof that
academic achievement leads to life accomplishments!
Programs such as the annual College Tour, Virtual University Initiative,
youth mentoring, and others provide students with experiences and
opportunities to grow confident; learning that the rewards of a quality
education are well worth the required effort. Students have the opportunity
to meet and interact with those who have similar goals and dreams.
Furthermore, they become a part of the ETL family which brings with it a
lifelong commitment, not only to individual success, but also to nurturing
the success of others.
We hope that you will find our website helpful and informative. If you have
any questions feel free to contact us. The work continues!
Sincerely,
Steven B. Skinner, EdD
